Molly's mother, Wendy, visited her sister Charlotte Pullerio and family in Heidleberg, Germany in March 2004. Charlotte and her husband Jorge knew Amir Moshfeghi from church and invited him to dinner. As Amir was getting out of the car to go to his house, Wendy couldn't let him get away.

"Would you like to write a girl in America?" Wendy hollered from the backseat, squished between the car seats of Charlotte's kids, Ashlie and Gina. "So you can... practice your English."

The first week in April 2004, Molly received her first letter from Amir. His English was not good, but he had an adorable way of spelling. (He still does) They wrote for many months. He first called when Molly was painting her mother's bedroom. He had a funny accent and the phone connection was bad. They emailed and called and their relationship developed naturally over time. Amir invited Molly to visit him in Germany, so she packed her bags and flew over in December 2004.

Molly & Amir

Their initial meeting was awkward, but they managed to overcome Amir's poor English and Molly's bad attitude. They spent a lot of time together during her first visit, and Amir didn't waste any time proposing. Molly arrived on a Saturday night, and he first proposed on Sunday night. And then again Monday and Tuesday. It took a few tries, but Molly finally agreed that she couldn't live without him.

All week, Amir drug Molly by jewelry store windows. Finally, in Mannheim, Molly spotted a ring in the window of an antique store. She didn't want to go in, but Amir insisted. It fit perfectly! The lady said in German, "It's like it was made for you." Amir called Molly's dad to ask permission. At 6 o'clock, the bells of the town church were ringing, and he gave Molly the ring. So romantic!

Molly's second trip to Germany was March 2005, one year after her mother met Amir. The two were able to spend more time together talking and laughing. The two will be married as soon as the paperwork goes through and Amir can come to the United States.

Well Wishes...

...from Mark & Sherrie Glad:

We’d like to congratulate Molly and Amir. We knew Amir in Germany. Jorge (Molly's uncle) and I served in the Bishopric together and I really enjoyed spending time with Amir.

We're excited!
