Developing Educational Materials for the World Wide Web
Course Description:
Welcome to Developing Educational Materials for the World Wide Web! This is a basic in-depth course for students who want to be able to tailor Internet educational materials to their own instructional requirements. Students will be able to locate information on the Internet and will develop and publish web pages to be used for instruction and educational purposes. This course will be held in a computer lab with Internet connections.
This course is intended for students with an interest in web design and basic HTML, and the challenges of utilizing web technologies for educational purposes. The course will be divided into ten units. In these ten units, we will take a critical and detailed look at various kinds of eduwebs such as course webs, collaborative project webs, virtual seminars, research communities, web-based training, and professional development webs and we will consider best uses and good design techniques. We will design and post our own websites for instructional use.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, the student will:
- Be familiar with the World Wide Web as information repository, communications network, educational delivery system and collaborative system
- Recognize good web page design
- Be able to generate well-designed HTML hypertext
- Design a basic web document to be used for instruction or other educational purposes.
The instructor for this course is Patty Kennington. For some information about myself, my family and I live on a dairy farm in Eastern Oregon, along the Snake River bordering Idaho. I have been a resident of Ontario, Oregon for 26 years. My husband Clint and I have 5 children and one adorable granddaughter, who is living with her parents in St. Louis! I enjoy gardening, music, computers, and reading. I am currently teaching high school part time at Ontario High School, but I especially enjoy teaching classes for Eastern Oregon University. I received a Secondary Teaching Certificate from Brigham Young University and a graduate degree in Educational Technology online through The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Projects
Students will construct:

Graduate students additional:
