Taking Photos - LCD Screens and Viewfinders

LCDs and Viewfinders
Liquid Crystal Displays on digital cameras actually "see" the shot you will be taking, because you are actually looking "through" the camera. Often, however, the LCD cannot be clearly seen in bright light, or when you want to conserve battery power. At these times you will instead use the viewfinder, which is usually higher and often to the left of the actual camera lens/LCD.

Viewfinders, since they do not "see" what the camera lens does, may give you a different result than you anticipated. This is called "Parallax." Parallax is especially apparent in close up photos. When you are taking photos close up (Macro mode), do your best to use the LCD screen to view your picture, because the viewfinder may end up giving you a completely different angle from the camera lens.
