Printing & Printers

Other options for printing digital photos: Printing at a kiosk or through an online photo printer can give you fade-proof, smudge-resistant photos that are often less expensive than printing on your own computer. Printing directly from your camera or card saves steps, too. But remember that your printing size options are limited, if that is important to you, and you may not be able to do much photo editing, if any.

Printing at a store kiosk - Stores such as Walmart have printer kiosks near their electronics section that allow you to insert your camera's card into the reader and then print out photos. While the kiosks usually have text and audio instructions, you may ask a store employee to help you the first time out.

Printing directly from a photo printer - If you purchased a camera with a companion printer, for example a Kodak or HP, you can plug the supplied USB cable directly into the camera, and then give directions to the printer by using the camera's LCD screen to choose printing options. If you purchase a camera dock, this process becomes even easier.

Printing from a printer's card reader - If your printer comes supplied with an LCD screen you may be able to give the printer itself directions for printing. Or you may be able to read the card reader from your computer.

Using online printing services: You can upload your digital photo files to online printers and have them mailed to you in printed form. Some of the best of these are:
