Setting Up Your Page for Printing

For printing album pages, the following link lists some useful software sites (including freeware!):

Slideshow and Album software

HP Image Zone Express - great free software for printing photos & album pages

For printing with a photo printer, most photo printers come with settings similar to the ones listed below:

1. It always helps to see if your picture is lined up right on the page, so if your File/Print has an option called File/Print Preview, use that option instead. With Print Preview you can scale it to fit the size of your paper. If you want more options, click on "Page Setup."

2. In "Page Setup," click on "Properties."

3. Under the "Quality" tab, you can choose what type of paper you want. The better quality the paper, the more ink will be used and the longer it will take to print.

4. The "Layout" tab will show you where you can choose Portrait (tall orientation) or Landscape (wide orientation) and whether you want to print borderless prints

.

5. If there is a "Digital Camera" menu, click on it and you may be given options that will help the printer print your photo to best advantage

.

6. The "Color" tab will allow you to make adjustments in the brightness and saturation of your inks. It can also allow you to print in grayscale.

7. "Features" settings may allow you to print on both sides, print 2 or 4 pages on one side, posters size (using 4 pages to print out one picture), or direct how much ink to use. "Services" is the printer toolbox for when the refuses to print or needs the print heads cleaned or aligned.

8. If you have Windows XP, don't forget to try the Print Wizard. Open a folder where you store digital photos, then click on the "Print Pictures" option in the left menu.

9. After starting the Wizard, select all the photos you want in your layout. You can choose layouts with wallet size or, if you have many pictures and want a contact sheet of thumbnails, you can choose that too. Then click Next to proceed with printing your chosen layout!
